How Day 0 works
Updated · 2 min read · By The ParSEO team
The short answer
Day 0 is your first check that measured anything: your pages, where you rank for each search, what AI assistants say, and a picture of your home page. It is kept as it was. Every later score is shown beside Day 0, but only where both measured the same things, so a comparison is never made from different data.
Key points
- Day 0 is saved from the first check that measured something.
- Scores are compared with Day 0 only when both measured the same things.
- A check counts only what was actually measured; missing data is never a penalty.
- You can start a new Day 0 if you want a fresh starting point.
What Day 0 records
- Your pages, as Google and AI crawlers can read them.
- Your position on Google for each search you track.
- What AI assistants answered to your questions, and who they named.
- A picture of your home page on a laptop and on a phone.
Why it stays fixed
Proof needs a fixed point. When a fix goes live, ParSEO shows where you stood before and after, and how far you've come since Day 0. If Day 0 moved, that comparison would mean nothing.
Honest comparisons
ParSEO keeps separate scores rather than one blended number: whether Google and AI can find and read your site, how high you show up on Google, and how often AI answers name you. A check counts only if it was actually measured, and two days are compared only when they measured the same things.
How often ParSEO checks after Day 0
A full check runs automatically every day, and you can run one yourself: at most two a day, three hours apart, the automatic one included. Every Monday, Google is read for every search you track; on other days, for the searches where a change can show (new searches, searches on page one, and searches whose page changed in the last 14 days).
Starting again
If your site changes completely, you can start a new Day 0 from Settings.
Questions people ask
Why doesn't every search get read every day?
Google rarely moves a page from one day to the next unless the page changed, so ParSEO reads every search on Mondays and, on other days, the ones where a change can show. A search not read today keeps its latest reading with its own date.
What if my first check missed something?
Comparisons with Day 0 are only made where both checks measured the same thing. Anything Day 0 didn't measure isn't compared with it.
