ParSEO's crawler

If you found ParSEO in your server logs, this page explains why it came and how to stop it.

Why it visited

Someone added your website to ParSEO to see how it shows up on Google and in AI answers. Usually that's the website's owner or the person who runs it. ParSEO only reads websites that someone added. It doesn't crawl the web on its own.

What it reads

  • The home page and a handful of other pages listed in your sitemap, usually once a day.
  • robots.txt, the sitemap and llms.txt, to see which crawlers are allowed in.
  • Each page three ways: once as a normal browser, and once each with Googlebot's and GPTBot's names, to check that every crawler gets the same page as a visitor. These reads come from ParSEO, not from Google or OpenAI.
  • Pictures of the page, taken by a normal browser.

It reads only public pages, never logs in, never fills in forms, and keeps to a few requests at a time.

How to stop it

If you didn't add your website and don't want ParSEO to read it, write to the contact address listed on this site with the address of your website. We'll remove it and stop reading it.
