Surfer SEO alternatives for small businesses
Updated · 2 min read · By The ParSEO team
The short answer
Surfer is a content editor from $49 a month billed yearly, with rank tracking for 10 keywords. Writesonic and SE Ranking also write articles; Rank Math adds Content AI inside WordPress; Search Atlas OTTO applies fixes with a JavaScript pixel. ParSEO writes posts from your own answers, checks every sentence, publishes with your OK and tracks what each post did.
Key points
- Stay with Surfer if you write yourself and want a draft scored against what ranks.
- Writesonic and SE Ranking write articles for you (15 and 25 a month at the levels checked).
- Rank Math is the low-cost option inside WordPress.
- ParSEO writes at most 2 posts a week, from your answers, and proves each one.
The options
1. ParSEO
₹2,999 a month (Starter)
- Best for
- Owners who want fixes made on their real site with their OK, Google and AI answers tracked together, and dated proof of what each change did.
- Not for
- SEO professionals who need large keyword and backlink databases. ParSEO's proof works on its own sites but it has no published client results yet.
2. Writesonic
About $99 a month
- Best for
- Teams that mainly want AI-written articles (15 a month at this level) with some AI visibility tracking.
- Not for
- Tracking many AI assistants at the entry level: it covers 3 engines there.
3. SE Ranking
$129 a month (Core)
- Best for
- A lower-priced all-round SEO suite, with an AI visibility add-on and 25 written articles.
- Not for
- Anyone expecting AI answer tracking in the base plan: it's an $89 add-on.
4. Rank Math
About €7.99 a month (PRO, billed yearly)
- Best for
- WordPress owners who want SEO controls inside WordPress, with edits made on the server and Content AI credits.
- Not for
- Sites that aren't on WordPress, and owners who want the work decided and proven for them.
5. Search Atlas OTTO
$99 a month
- Best for
- Owners comfortable with fixes applied by a JavaScript pixel, plus Google Business Profile features.
- Not for
- Anyone who wants fixes written into the real page rather than added by JavaScript after it loads.
Prices are each tool's cheapest paid plan, checked on 22 October 2026 on its own pricing page (or a named review where it publishes none). They change; follow the sources to confirm before choosing an alternative to Surfer.
How to choose
Ask who writes. If you or a writer do, an editor like Surfer that scores the draft is useful. If you want the posts written, the question becomes how the tool avoids generic or wrong content.
How ParSEO writes posts
ParSEO picks the post most likely to win you a search, asks you only what you know, and writes the rest with sources. Every sentence is checked before you read it: a figure must appear in what that paragraph cites, no other business is named, and no promise is made that you didn't make. A sentence that fails is left out and listed with the reason. It writes at most two new posts in any seven days, so quality comes first.
Honest limits
ParSEO isn't a writing editor: there is no draft score to type against. Its posts depend on your answers, so a post about something you can't speak to won't be written well.
Questions people ask
Does ParSEO have a content score like Surfer?
No. It shows a Ready for Google checklist with advice, and a list of what your post adds that the top results don't. Nothing on it stops you publishing.
How many posts does ParSEO write?
4 a month on Starter, 8 on Grow and 8 per site on Scale, and never more than 2 new posts in any 7 days.
Are these prices current?
They were checked on each tool's own pricing page on 22 October 2026, or on a named review where a tool doesn't publish a price list. Prices change, so follow the sources before deciding.
