Google Business Profile

The short answer
A free Google listing for a business that appears in Maps and local results, with hours, photos, reviews and contact details.
Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) is the listing that shows in Google Maps and in the local results for searches like "dentist near me". It holds your name, category, address or service area, hours, phone, website, photos, posts and reviews.
Google's guidelines are strict: use your real-world business name (no added keywords), the correct category, and a real address you serve customers from or a service area. Breaking them can get a profile suspended.
For local businesses it's usually the single most important listing. Keep it complete and current, and reply to reviews.
In practice
In practice, keep it complete and current: the right primary category, accurate hours including holidays, the services you offer, real photos of your premises and work, and replies to every review. Check it each month against your website, because suggested edits from the public can change details without you noticing.
